Symptoms:
- Lateral-side knee pain with hyperflexion, kneeling or squatting
- Locking
- Trauma history?
PE:
- Meniscal testing not always positive
- Lateral joint line pain not constant
Methods:
2010-2015: 55 soccer players with hypermobile lateral meniscus treated surgically :
- 46 cases included.
Retrospective study Phone evaluation (11.2016):
- Demographic characteristics
- Tegner
- VAS
- IKDC
- return to play

Surgical treatmenet:
All inside meniscal fixation using mainly two FasT-Fix® devices (Smith and Nephew)

Results:
- Mean follow-up was 43 months( 8-73 )
- Cases of reoperation ( 6,5 % ).
- Preop median Tegner score was 9 and 8 in postop.
- VAS for pain median postop = 1.
- Mean postop IKDC = 86.2 ( SD 16.7 )
- Return to play soccer in 38/46 = 82% cases.
- Return to the pre-injury activity level = 27/46 = 59% cases
Conclusion:
The diagnosis of hypermobile lateral meniscus is a clinical diagnosis only confirmed during the arthroscopy.
